He also says "now, this is a post effect sharpening", and I'm not clear on what he's trying to say by "post effect" (or "post-effect"), but it sounds suspect. The emphasis is more on the developing and editing side of the workflow. Iridient Developer is a powerful RAW image conversion application designed and optimized specifically for Mac OS X. Its overall interface and workflow will be quickly familiar to Lightroom users. There's no particular "magic" to Fuji cameras or lenses in that department, there's no reason to think they somehow have "solved" that immemorial struggle, once and for all, done away with the need to sharpen because they are systematically "perfect", with every combination of Fuji camera or lens or aperture-give me a break! Exposure X7 has both image management and image processing built-in, although its image management system is a hybrid of a browser and catalog. c'mon-I can't help but wonder if he's saying that to please his Fuji overlords and/or some other fanboyist bias. But he doesn't even specify a camera, he says "every Fuji file that I import", which. I spontaneously doubt/fail to take seriously the claim that the files from a given camera are systematically perfectly sharp straight out of camera, even for cameras without AA filters. I have used both Iridient and Photo Ninja on a 'trial' basis. When it comes to features Lightroom is still years ahead of Iridient. I downloaded the trial version of Iridient and compared editing Raw files and the result I was getting from Iridient to LR. I still use Lightroom to import and catalog images. Tried Capture One, Photoninja, Lightroom and in the end Iridient. For this test I’m not going to compare features. Been a Lightroom user for as long as I can remember. ![]() My intuition is that every raw file could use at least a little bit of sharpening, but your eyes will be the ultimate arbiters of that.
